A Keep On Pushing Moment: Keep away from Naysayers

Much of what we will accomplish in life is influenced by the people we surround ourselves with. Truth be told, we all have those experts in our lives — those people who think they know what it is we can or cannot do and see it as their responsibility if not their obligation to tell us what it is they think we can or cannot do.
Now, I don’t think all of these experts, as I call them, are intentionally or deliberately trying to crush your dreams.
Oftentimes, they are your close family and friends and it actually has more to do with them than it has to do with you. They are the ones who are afraid or don’t think they have what it takes to realize their dreams and so they project their own fears and insecurities on you. In their own way, they are trying to protect you from what they see as the possible pitfalls and hurts that may be awaiting you. Sometimes, they might be giving you good, honest feedback but there are also those who for whatever reason want to crush your dreams.
You have to be wise enough to know the difference, between those who are giving you good honest advice, those who maliciously want to belittle your dreams and those who are well intentioned but underestimate or disparage you anyway. As Mark Twain advises, you should stay away from the latter two.
Get yourself around people who will in fact challenge you!
…..people who will encourage you to launch even though it maybe scary,
… people who will lift you up and support you when you face setbacks.
These are the great ones — the influencers you want to surround yourself with. Life is simply better when you’re around people who are positive and are supportive of your dreams.
